Sphere Technical Consulting is Colin Doyle. I have been in the IT industry for over 19 years, with a focus over the last1 years on enterprise routing and switching. I have designed, deployed, and supported networks on 6 continents for customers like the IETF, ICANN, IEEE 802, NANOG, Zigbee Alliance, WiMAX Forum, and most recently, Facebook. My networking experience, coupled with my BS in Business Management from Marylhurst University, allows me to not just manage project, but manage teams and communicate on an executive level.

But experience aside, my most valuable trait is this:

I really love building networks!

Cisco

I believe good planning breeds success. When I manage a project, you'll get a Scope of Work document, a defined change-management process, documentation, case-studies (when needed), and information that's both technical and in plain English.

Specializing in network solutions

Juniper

Projects of Note

I've setup environments with OSPF, EIGRP, and multi-homed BGP. Routed networks with IPv4 and IPv6. QoS/CoS for voice and video prioritization. Spanning-tree. SNMP. NetFlows. LAG. DNS. DHCP. NAT. And the other bits and pieces that make it all work.

Projects

Most of my recent work has been on the JUNOS platform. My work as the network architect for Portland Community College has me overseeing nearly 500 Juniper devices, including MX, EX, and SA appliances.

Protocols

Portland Community College - Currently Network Architect for district-wide Network Redesign Project. Designed and implemented district-wide QoS. Assist with multi-peer BGP route engineering.

Facebook GMS Summit 2015 & 2017 - Design and build the core and aggregation layers of the network for a 4000 employee meeting. Advise on the Aruba WAP deployment. Great gig with clustered SRX650's and stacked EX4550's at the core, and Cisco at the access layer. Buildout and tear down all in the space of 8 days!

I continue to be an active participant with IETF as a NOC volunteer. In this role, I am responsible for the setup and configuration of the routers used for the eBGP dual-stack multihomed peering links that service their member meetings.

As of 2/2015, I have provided network design and support for over 110 global meetings and events.

Fluent in IOS and currently studying IOS XR. I've setup everything from small 3560cg switches to 6500 chassis, VXR's, ISR's, and ASA's.

I've recently accepted a Senior Systems Engineer position for Juniper Networks! At this point, I'm still deciding what I want to do with this site. More to come, or nothing at all. I couldn't say at the moment.
